Çetin Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP), located within the borders of the Şirvan and Pervari districts of Siirt, began generating electricity at full capacity during a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan via video conference.
Çetin Dam and HEPP, completed in a record-breaking 2.5 years, has a total installed capacity of 420 MW and is the largest dam of its kind in Turkey and Europe, constructed using roller compacted concrete (RCC). The dam, with an RCC body standing 165 meters high, has a body volume of 4.8 million m³. With a total investment of $600 million, the dam is expected to generate an average of 1.5 billion kWh of energy annually and contribute $100 million to the Turkish economy each year. Çetin Dam and HEPP is also expected to make a significant contribution to the national economy by utilizing Turkey’s domestic and renewable resources, while greatly reducing the country’s energy imports.
